Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how LearningNeurons ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, mobile experience, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you give us
- Account details: full name, username, email address, and password (stored only as a salted hash — we never store your plaintext password).
- Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We never see or store your Google password.
- Profile information: college/school name, bio, avatar image, date of birth, and gender — all optional, collected through the "tell us about yourself" prompt shown after your first login, and used only to understand our learner base and improve the Service. You can skip this prompt entirely.
- Content you create: code you write and submit to problems, posts, comments, and reactions on the community feed, direct and group chat messages, notes, and any recordings you make or that a mentor makes of a live meeting you join.
- Payment information: when you purchase a Plus or Pro subscription, payment is processed entirely by Razorpay, our payment processor. We never receive or store your card, UPI, or bank account details — we only receive confirmation of payment and an order/payment reference ID.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Usage data: which problems you attempt, your submissions and their results, learning progress, time spent, and general activity used to power streaks, the leaderboard, and progress tracking.
- Device and log data: IP address, browser type, and basic request logs kept for security and abuse prevention.
- Local storage: your session tokens and display preferences (such as light/dark theme and accent color) are stored in your browser's local storage, not on our servers.
2. How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account, and to authenticate you when you sign in.
- To run the Service's core features: the coding judge, learning paths, live mentor meetings, the community feed, messaging, and the AI-powered "Nova" assistant and AI Teacher.
- To process payments and manage your subscription tier.
- To personalize your experience, such as recommending problems or tracking your progress.
- To communicate with you about your account, security, or changes to the Service.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, cheating, abuse, or violations of our Terms & Conditions.
- To improve and develop the Service, including understanding our learner demographics from the optional onboarding information.
3. AI features
Features such as the Nova assistant, AI Teacher, and AI-assisted interview feedback send the relevant parts of your question, code, or conversation to our third-party AI provider (OpenAI) in order to generate a response. We do not send your account password, payment details, or private messages with other users to any AI provider. Do not paste sensitive personal information into a chat with an AI feature that you would not want processed by that provider.
4. Live meetings and recordings
Video, audio, and screen-share in live meetings travel directly between participants' devices (peer-to-peer) and are not stored on our servers unless a mentor chooses to record the session. If a meeting is recorded, the recording is stored on our servers and made available to participants of that meeting. By joining a live meeting, you consent to being recorded if the mentor enables recording, and a notice is shown when recording is active.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With other users, as intended: your username, avatar, and public activity (posts, comments, leaderboard rank) are visible to other users of the Service, as is your presence and participation in any live meeting or chat you join.
- With service providers: Razorpay (payments), OpenAI (AI features), Google (sign-in), and our hosting provider — each only to the extent needed to provide their part of the Service, and bound to use it only for that purpose.
- For legal reasons: if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of LearningNeurons, our users, or the public.
- With your consent: in any other case where you've explicitly agreed to the sharing.
6. Data retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain it for legal, security, or legitimate business purposes (for example, financial records of past payments).
7. Your rights and choices
- You can review and update most of your profile information at any time from your Profile page.
- You can request a copy of your personal data, or request that we delete your account and associated data, by contacting us (see Section 11).
- You can decline to answer any optional profile question (date of birth, gender, college/school) without any impact on your access to the Service.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures — including password hashing, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate, notify you through the Service. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
